The AEM-8 replaces aging and refurbished HP CS/80 drives while using ARRAID's proprietary solid state 'ARRAID Flash Drive' (AFD) to store data. Internal AEM rotating drives (disk, tape & magneto-optic) can still be supported upon request.
The AEM-8 will also replace any obsolete disk drive made by Bering Engineering.
No host system software or controller changes are required to replace a HP CS/80 refurbished drive with the AEM-8.
The AEM-8 provides a complete bridge between the host HPIB controller and the AEM's SCSI drives. These drives have been used on HP-1000, 3000 and 9000 computers in a variety of applications.
While refurbished HPIB drives have limited availability, refurbished HPIB drives commonly fail within a few months resulting in system down time. The AEM-8 is is provided as new equipment, allowing customers to utilize SCSI drives or ARRAID's proprietary solid state 'ARRAID Flash Drive' (AFD) installed in the AEM-8 with MTBF of 200,000+ hours and significantly more when using the solid state AFD.
Additional AEM-8 options include disk to disk backup, disk to tape backup, AFD network (backup & restore) and mirroring replaced with the ARRAID Flash Drive (AFD) CompactFlash (CF) media, and multi-volume (provides several HP 79XX disk partitions on a single SCSI media). - The AEM-8 is simple to install. No hardware or software changes are required. The HP Operating System, applications, and diagnostic software are supported.
- The AEM-8 can be used as a replacement for obsolete storage devices or in can be used along with obsolete hardware (daisy chaining).
- The AEM-8 uses Compact Flash (CF) media for storage. Other than the cooling fans, the AEM-8 has no moving parts that can wear-out or require adjustments.
